Route planning

Use the approach page to remove friction before it shows up in the trip.

Mountain planning gets materially better when the access logic is clear: road leg, rail or air entry point, and what the last stretch really asks of you.

Read road, rail, and air as planning inputs, not isolated options.
Use road conditions and live updates if the destination is weather-sensitive.
Finalize stays only after the approach feels workable.

Destination context

Region: Jammu & Kashmir

Peak months: April, May, June, September, October

Planning note

Access clarity reduces downstream mistakes.

A useful destination guide does not stop at inspiration. It helps the approach feel legible before dates or bookings get locked in.

AirBy air

Nearest Airport: Srinagar International Airport (IATA: SXR)
Location: Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India

How to Travel from Srinagar Airport to Destination in Kashmir:
Srinagar Airport is located approximately 12 km from the city center. From the airport, travelers can reach their destination via pre-paid taxis or app-based cab services (such as Uber or local operators), which are available outside the terminal. The drive to Srinagar city takes about 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. For destinations beyond Srinagar (e.g., Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg), shared taxis or private cabs can be hired from the city or arranged in advance; Gulmarg is ~50 km (2–3 hours drive), Pahalgam ~90 km (~3 hours), and Sonamarg ~80 km (~3 hours). Road conditions are generally good, with scenic routes through the Himalayan terrain.
