Mata Vaishno Devi is one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in India, located in the Trikuta Mountains of the Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir. The Trek: The distance from Katra to the Bhawan is about 14 kilometres. Devotees can also visit the Bhairav Baba temple, which is another 2–2.5 km uphill from the Bhawan. Best Time to Visit: The most popular time is during the summer months from March to June. Navratri festivals are also a peak period for pilgrims. Registration: Pilgrims must obtain a Yatra Registration Card (RFID) before starting the trek, available at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Transport & Facilities Reaching Katra: You can reach Katra via train (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station) or by road from Jammu. Taxis from Jammu to Katra typically cost around ₹2,191. Modes of Ascent: For those unable to trek, the Shrine Board offers services like Helicopters, Battery-operated cars, Palkis (palanquins), and Ponies. Ropeway: A Bhawan-Bhairov Ropeway is available to quickly reach the Bhairav Nath temple from the main Bhawan. Accommodation: Both free and paid stay options are managed by the Shrine Board at Katra, Adhkumari, and the Bhawan.
